About me

I am a pianist and composer, having graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a first in my Master’s degree. Before this, I studied at the University of York and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. I am honoured to have been able to perform and have my music performed by others throughout Europe – winning first prize in the ‘Musica per archi’ and ‘Bruno Maderna’ composition competitions. I have performed in solo recitals as a pianist, as well as releasing my own music.

Since 2016, I have worked with private students here in London. I am passionate about the unique relationship each student has to their instrument and firmly believe that a passion for music and the piano is something that is accessible to anyone. Having offered teaching to people of all ages and backgrounds, of both advanced and novice standards, I have tailored a personable and flexible teaching style that nurtures and ignites potential. I currently offer home visits within 3 miles of the NW8 postcode.

In addition to my teaching, I also have a career as a published and award-winning composer, with my work being featured on Finnish National Radio, The Saatchi Gallery and at St Martin in the Fields. Most recently I have been commissioned by the Nash ensemble to compose a piece for the Wigmore Hall, which is being performed in November 2021.

WHAT I OFFER

  • ABRSM & Music Theory

I have extensive experience preparing students of all ages for the ABRSM exam boards. I have an up-to-date knowledge of the examination criteria and have successfully coached students to pass exams from grade 1 to 8 in piano performance.

  • Conservatoire Audition Preparation

I have an intimate knowledge of the conservatoire system in London, including the auditioning process and examiner expectations. I have successfully coached students for their auditions, including for the Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall.

  • Inspiring, Relaxed & Supportive Teaching

Music-making is best when enjoyed. From my own experience learning piano as a child, and later from tutoring students, it is very clear to me that strict, joyless piano teaching is often counterproductive to nurturing the talent and potential of students. My lessons offer a methodical and flexible approach that supports my students in their goals. I offer a bespoke curriculum tailored to the individual student's needs.

  • Reliable and Flexible Lesson Planning

Life can be stressful and unpredictable. If you need a lesson at short notice or need to reschedule I will respond within a few hours and do my best to work around your schedule.

I am available for home visits anywhere within 3 miles of the NW8 postcode.

  • Composition

As a working composer, I am able to help students who wish to create their own music. I believe fostering creative musicality in addition to technological aptitude helps students stand out, whether in exams or auditions.

  • Trusted Teacher

I have an enhanced DBS check and have taught students of all ages for over 5 years.
